From the past, a WARNING FROM THE FUTURE

I only have one story about Kim Fowley, and it's not really that good, but here goes: I went to a few of the DC Music Business Conferences in the 80s, and one time, '87 I think, Kim Fowley was there. I didn't know who he was at first, I just saw a tall old guy with wild sunglasses, when I finally got a look at his name tag ("Kim Fowley") I was astounded. I had to ask one of the organizers if that was THE Kim Fowley, and it was, he was apparently looking to do some work in the DC area and scouting for talent. He looked like an old lizard, and had a bandage on his wrist (from his daily transfusion of virgin's blood?) and seemed to expect everyone to be in awe of him. According to this interview with him, he was 64 in 2003; but he looked at least that old in 1987! I found out years later that he recorded and produced an album for The Leather Nun in Wheaton, Maryland, about a mile from where I was living at the time. And I'd always liked the Leather Nun, from Sweden, and there they were so close but unbeknownst to me. D'oh! On the other hand, their first studio album was kind of lame so I stopped following them; it was the one after that that Fowley produced.
And if you can handle a good scare, check out Kim Fowley's website.
